New Branch Makerspaces! - 14 new Makerspaces opened with Media Studios that feature an iMac, scanning, VHS conversion and Adobe Creative Suite. The Turner Park Branch also has new Sound and Photo Studios.

Writer-in-Residence Reception - Writer, composer, publisher, editor and multidisciplinary artist, Gary Barwin is the Hamilton Public Library and McMaster University's Mabel Pugh Taylor 2017/18 Writer-in-Residence.
Storytelling Project - To recognize Canada 150, Hamilton Public Library is exploring the history of immigration since the incorporation of the city in 1846. The Love your City Share Your Stories -- Immigration in Hamilton project aims to capture the voices of those individuals who have made Hamilton their home.
